Sign in with Google
Applies toAlpha
Google sign-in uses an OpenID Connect authorization-code flow. OpenRUM checks the ID token and requires a verified email. It works with eligible Google and Google Workspace accounts; your Google application’s audience determines who can authorize it.
Before starting, deploy OpenRUM at its canonical HTTPS PUBLIC_BASE_URL, sign in as Instance Owner, and enable encrypted secret storage. Without the master key, you can inspect the Google card but cannot save or enable it.

Create a Google OAuth client
Section titled “Create a Google OAuth client”In the Google Cloud Console, prepare the application’s branding and audience, then create an OAuth client of type Web application. Add this exact Authorized redirect URI for the default provider ID
google:https://rum.example.com/api/v1/auth/providers/google/callbackReplace
rum.example.comwith yourPUBLIC_BASE_URLhost. If you choose a different provider ID, use it in the path. Copy the Client ID and Client Secret. OpenRUM requests onlyopenid, profile, andemailscopes; make sure the account you will test can use the Google application. -
Configure and test OpenRUM
Section titled “Configure and test OpenRUM”Open System Settings → Authentication, select the Google card, and enter the provider ID, display name, Client ID, and Client Secret. Leave Enable and show on login unchecked, then select Save configuration. Re-enter the Owner’s OpenRUM password when prompted. Select Test connection and finish Google’s consent flow. A successful test returns to the settings page without creating a user account.
-
Enable and sign in
Section titled “Enable and sign in”Check Enable and show on login and save again. In a separate browser session, open the login page and select Sign in with Google. If this is a new external account, an Organization administrator must grant it access. If you already have an OpenRUM account, connect Google in Account before using the login button.
Google’s OpenID Connect setup guide describes its OAuth client, redirect URI, consent screen, and scopes.
